I have not stepped into the Cabanas ever since I moved near by the spot. I've been there on several occasions for private parties and usually on weekdays after work hours. The interior was cool and innovative somewhat for its time back then. Anyway, I thought this morning, I should scout online and see what people thought of the place.
From New York Magazine's website, there are 4 negative reviews, mostly staff focused, i.e. rude bouncers to terrible staff and even colour discrimination. Check out the reviews from NYMag.com here. Overall, The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel was rated 1 out of 5 stars.
A slightly kinder CitySearch.com offered them 2 stars overall. Out of the 11 reviews on The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel, there were only 2 who gave 4 stars, 1 person gave them 2 stars, and the remaining 8 were 1 star. The top 2 reviewers who gave them 4 stars, one ranked it highly for the nice music and "great place to hang when the weather is nice." The other 4 star review came from CitySearch staff circa 2004 when The Cabanas at the Maritime Hotel first opened. The most entertaining review and unfortunate was given by a Claudette who shared how The management at The Cabanas ruined her birthday party. Unfortunately, there is no way one can verify the negative reviews.
By far, reviews of The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel gained the most positive comments on Yelp.com.
I think The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel is a good place, and a bad neighbour.

The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel
I am starting this blog to show how noisy and what an inconsiderate business establishment The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel is. For the past year I have to put up with the weekly noisy weekends since I moved into my current apartment. I have called the hotel's night desk pretty much every weekend to complain about the noise level, not just music from the club, but noise from drunken patrons that leave the club at 3 or 4 in the morning, and come 7am, the garbage disposal truck with all the clanking from the empty liquor bottles.
I just got home after walking personally the front desk at The Maritime Hotel and speaking with the front desk agent who informed me that I have to file my complaint with the hotel on a weekday. I have done that last year and left a message to the events people who are in charged of the Cabanas at the Maritime Hotel. No one responded back. Since then, I have decided the Cabanas at The Maritime hotel is an inconsiderate business establishment and I am going to keep and update of my dealing with them.
