The Maritime Hotel has plenty of garbage

So here are some happenings at The Maritime Hotel yesterday. Estelle taped a private event that lasted several hours at Hiro, which is below The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel.

As usual, around 2ish in the morning, the garbage disposal team started clearing all the empty glass bottles, waking me, if not the entire neighbourhood with the clanking.

Time to take out the trash

For some unexplained reason, as I was trying to get to sleep around 1ish this morning, I started hearing clanking sounds coming from across the street from the Maritime Hotel. I got up and took a look, and there were workers removing bags and bags of empty glass bottles. We are talking several bags of them piled up in those mega trash bins. The workers removing them were causing a din. Why can't they do it during the day time versus at 1ish in the morning?

Given the din, i am not surprised if they were left overs from the night before from the Pride festivities.

Anyway the garbage disposal came, and the noise got louder.

Thanks Maritime Hotel. Grrrrrrr...

The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel is on MySpace!

So while doing some good ole' fashion googling this morning, I found out that The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel actually has presence on MySpace! I am not sure how relevant MySpace is still in today's social media economy, but I guess they created that page back when MySpace was hot.

The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel certainly did not spend too much effort in customizing the page, given that it just has a couple of Flash videos (how old school web).

Still it is mildly entertaining to showcase some of the celebrities and parties that took place at The Cabanas at the Maritime Hotel, but I do like their little blurb:
In a city whose bars are mostly dark and underground, a bright, open rooftop represents the ultimate escape ideally, to a warmer, less-crowded, more laid-back place. Cabana at the Maritime fulfills the fantasy best. In the summer, it feels like a trendy L.A. nightclub: heat lamps, leafy plants, strappy sandals, and halter tops. After a few cocktails, the tan and trim lounging on deep blue cushions and melding into the tropical wallpaper could actually be actors, and quite often, they are. In the winter time thet North Cabana turns into a little ski resort with the working fireplace it changes completely the scene, Last summer, Sean Penn, Sam Rockwell, and the sisters Hilton were regulars.

Speaking of parties, the lesbian brigade kept The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel rocking till around 12:30am this morning in the spirit of their Pride celebration.

The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel Are Rockin' It Last Night

So at around 2:45am this morning, I finally called 311 to complain about the volume of the music coming from The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel. Apparently how the city works is that a case number will be issued, and a package will be mailed to me, which I will need to fill out. Then at some point, the city will have someone come to my premise to take a noise measurement of the source.

My take on the last part is that by the time the city guy comes to my apartment, everything will be dead quiet.

Anyway, here is the clip shot around 1:20am this morning. The Cabanas at the Maritime Hotel are truly rocking the place and making it lively. I wonder how do the neighbours feel?

By the way, most videos, if not all are shot on my iPhone 3GS. I wonder if the 4G will provide better mic quality. It is hard to tell from the videos on the music volume, but when I can hear it all the way from across the street in my apartment, it is loud. Keep rocking!

The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel Celebrates with Live DJ

Friday night. DJ is in the house! Music is going to get loud people. Only at The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel.

Lovely neighbours they are. Going to call 311 if the noise does not subside by 1am.

Been Busy of late

So the past weekend noise coming from The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel seemed less loud than usual and probably due to everyone being out of town. I was able to go to bed on Saturday at a reasonable 2:30ish and fell asleep with no problem. Usually I toss and turn from every honk from the cars on the street below or obnoxiously loud and drunk people till past 4ish when the Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel closes. However came 7ish in the morning, without fail, the clanking of empty liquor bottles woke me up as the waste removal company truck came to dispose the carnage left from hours of partying earlier.

If on a normal Friday/Saturday night I am punished to stay up till past 4am, why can't the management at The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel have their waste disposal removed at a later hour like noon or something? Between me falling asleep around 4am and to be woken up about 3 hours later at 7 is totally inconsiderate.
